The Ventura Festival Beyond Two Decades of Film Success

The Ventura Film Festival maintains its position as "the largest film festival ever held in Ventura County." This notable honor showcases the festival's passion for showcasing international filmmaking to Ventura County while keeping its emphasis on critical environmental causes.

The Ventura Film Festival is established as an all-inclusive international cinema festival that raises awareness for environmental matters like woodland and marine conservation and recovery, through a yearly film festival and related events. The organization employs the medium of movies to stimulate involvement and create meaningful dialogue around these urgent ecological issues.

The Ventura Film Festival launched in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, usually over 200 films each summer, and has garnered interest from the global cinema community. From its beginning, the festival has evolved into a major cultural celebration that unites cinema creators, conservation supporters, and viewers from around the world.

Some of the highlights have been showcasing renowned filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend along with Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA competitor combat sports star Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which included hosting the entire award-winning cast of West Side Story, featuring Oscar winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival founder and executive director was chosen to participate, together with many of Hollywood's biggest stars, in the half-century commemoration of West Side Story and website Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar honorees Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
